Ashfaque
Ashfaque (Ajay Devgan) is a small town boy aspiring to be a film star in the Hindi film industry. He joins a street theatre group run by a reformed dacoit Sidhu (Pankaj Kapur) who uses street theatre as a medium to bring about an awakening in the masses. Ashfaque struggles to give a creative vent to the actor in him in order to realize his dreams.Ashfaque's determined struggle pays off and he gets a break in films. He gets a new screen name - Sameer Khan. With the passage of time, the roles start becoming better and he moves up the success ladder in a very short time. Soon, he becomes Sameer Khan the superstar - one who can enact any role with finesse, get under the skin of any and every character with ease and walk away with audience applause. Sadly, amidst all adulation and applause, he slowly loses his own identity. He forgets his real self and imbibes all characteristics of the various roles essayed by him on screen. Corruption takes over his entire system, alienating him from all loved ones, including his wife Sneha (Vidya Balan). A shocking incident at a party changes everything, rocking Sameer Khan's lifestyle. He gets caught between his human self on one side and his corrupted superstar image on the other. Whether the conflict within him gives way to good sense and whether he is able to discard his corrupted image and emerge as a true life hero, becomes an integral part of this true life cinema.

Harman Baweja
Harman Baweja’s athletic physique and sportsman charisma got him his next movie, titled Victory, to be directed by Ajit Pal. The star cast includes Amrita Rao, playing his love interest, and Anupam Kher, his father.“We are in the process of talking to cricketers all over the world to make this film look as authentic as possible. Unfortunately, any cricketer’s calendar year gives them only seven or eight week’s leave. Therefore, we have to rope in the cricketers according to their availability,” says Ajit Pal. In addition, when IndiaFM asked him about the status of the film, he said, “the shooting is underway with a major match sequence already shot, whereas the principle shoot begins in November.” With cricket as the backdrop, the story revolves around a small town boy from Jaisalmer, who goes on to become the best cricketer in the world. The rest of the cast includes many a big name from the cricketing fraternity, like Navjot Singh Siddhu and Mohindar Amarnath and some Australian and some players of the New Zealand team. Adlabs and Victory Motion Pictures together are co-producing this film.

pogo and cn
POGO and Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE), the specialised licensing and merchandising division of Cartoon Network, have devised a unique way to promote a new toy called ‘Buchki’. The toy finds a place in the forthcoming B R Films' 'Bhootnath'. The toy has been infused in the script of BR Chopra Films' Bhootnath wherein the characters (two kids Jojo and Banku) are shown playing with the toy. The movie will hit the big screens in January 2008.
Bucchki is a toy with circular disc with projections and five screws, which is attached to strings on both sides with rings at the end for a good grip.
CNE has already got into a Licensing and Merchandising (L&M) deal for Love Story 2050, a film starring Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja.
Commenting on these associations, Jiggy George, Executive Director, Cartoon Network Enterprises, India & South Asia, said, “We wanted a movie fit at first go because we had to ensure that the movie plot sticks to what our brand stands for in terms of wholesome entertainment. Bhootnath fitted the bill and we have tied up with the movie on the L&M front. Thus, the toys will have an exposure through the film in a subliminal way.”

Aishwarya brings in her birthday at the Taj Mahal
It can't be anything but destiny. Aishwarya Rai who will be playing Mumtaz Mahal in Ben Kingsley's film on the Taj Mahal, brought in her 34th birthday in Agra with her real-life Shah Jehan.
"You make it sound so dramatic and romantic," speaking on the eve of her birthday Aishwarya’s girlish laughter remains the same. "It's nothing like that. I'm bringing it in with Abhishek, Ma and Pa. Abhishek was shooting an ad in Agra on Wednesday. So I joined him with Ma (mom-in-law Jaya Bachchan). And now Pa (father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan) has also joined us. So you could say it's a perfect birthday by the Taj Mahal, though not quite AT the Taj Mahal—have you seen the crowds over there?—we can't risk going to the Taj Mahal, but a stone's throw away. Tomorrow (November 1) I'll be heading back home. It's a pity my parents couldn't join us here in Agra."
On Nov 1, her birthday Aishwarya was on top of the world. "My birthday in Agra was just tooooooo special. Someone up there has answered all my prayers."
It's been a hectic time for Aishwarya. "I came back from the US from shooting Pink Panther in time for Karwa Chauth. God knows how the tv cameras got our shots, probably from neighbour's premise….We're just leading our lives normally. I don't know why or how the press has this hunger to know about us."
She laughs, "This is my first birthday after marriage and therefore a very special occasion. But that apart, you know me. Spending time with the people I love is my greatest joy. I'm in a very happy place. And I don't mean Agra. Just being with three people who mean so much to me makes my life complete. God has been kind. There's great fulfillment in love and in being loved, by not just my husband but his parents who are now my parents. We're one family and we all love one another."
After her marriage the glow on her face would make the sunglass industry thrive. That laughter again. "Well if you say I glow, it's the glow of happiness. I couldn't have asked for more."
She'll be heading straight to Karjat after her birthday for the last two days' shooting of Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodha-Akbar.
She's excited about doing the Taj Mahal film with Ben Kingsley. "On the first day of shooting The Last Legion with him he walked up to me he said, 'I've this idea.' And he told me about the Shah Jehan-Mumtaz Mahal film that he'd like to do. You know, how many Taj Mahal scripts have come my way. I told Ben there have been many occasions when this subject has come to me. But there was something exceptionally interesting about the way he approached the subject. And yes, the whole process of discussing the subject with him was participative. After The Last Legion I kind of put it in the back of my mind. But earlier this year he confirmed it was on."
At the moment it’s Jodha-Akbar that occupies Aishwarya's mind. "You know me. Once I get into a subject I'm totally into it. But yes, I'm looking forward to working with Sir Ben again."
What does she want for her birthday? She thinks a while and says, "Just blessings and good wishes. Apart from that God has given me everything."
